Legal Finesse is a law firm providing legal and regulatory advice to manufacturers of fast moving consumer goods and related companies.

The word “finesse” refers to a delicacy of execution and a subtlety of discrimination, a task done with craft and strategy. In cards, to “finesse” is to seek to win a trick with a relatively low card against a player with a stronger hand. To bring these skills to your business requires a keen attention to detail at the same time as seeing the bigger picture. It recognises that battles may be lost in winning wars. It requires experience to inform judgement, and a flexibility to sidestep obstacles rather than crash headlong into them.

I have practiced in consumer goods law for over 20 years in government and private legal practice. I have been responsible for the regulatory management of innovations like the introduction of energy drinks to the Australian market and the launch of the first “magic bullet” functional food into the mainstream consumer market, as well as assisting clients in their everyday legal compliance management in areas like trade practices compliance, label review and product development.

Please contact me if you believe that your business could use a little finesse.
